Lebron James Criticizes NBA's Replay Decisions as Lakers Fall to Buzzer-Beater, Trailing Denver 2-0

DENVER (AP) — LeBron James expressed his frustration after the Los Angeles Lakers lost a thrilling Game 2 to the Denver Nuggets with a buzzer-beating shot.

While the Lakers squandered a 20-point lead and missed key opportunities late in the game, it was the NBA's replay center that drew the ire of James. His frustration stemmed from a controversial overturned foul call on Michael Porter Jr.'s contact with D'Angelo Russell.

“I don’t understand what’s happening in the replay center,” James remarked, puzzled by the call that favored marginal contact over what he believed was a clear foul on Russell. "It's perplexing. What's the point of having a replay center if it doesn't make the right calls? It's frustrating."

After a stunning comeback from the Nuggets, winning their 10th consecutive game against the Lakers, James was reserved in his postgame remarks. He was visibly disappointed but acknowledged the Nuggets' resilience in their 101-99 victory.

Denver Nuggets' Jamal Murray sealed the win with a fadeaway buzzer-beater against Los Angeles Lakers' Anthony Davis, capping a remarkable 20-point comeback.

James had a chance to swing the game in the Lakers' favor with an open 3-pointer in the final seconds, but it rimmed out. He finished the night with 26 points and 12 assists.

Reflecting on the game, James acknowledged the Lakers' missed opportunities and Denver's ability to capitalize on them. He also praised D'Angelo Russell's performance, despite his previous struggles in the series.

When asked about carrying any lessons from the loss into Game 3, James responded, "Every game is its own challenge."

He concluded his postgame remarks by highlighting another controversial call from a previous game, emphasizing the need for consistency and clarity in officiating.

With the series shifting to Los Angeles for Game 3, the Lakers find themselves trailing 2-0, facing a must-win situation to keep their playoff hopes alive.
