Aldi Releases Urgent Advisory to Avoid Consuming Product Amid Police Probe into Possible Tampering

Aldi Urges Customers to Avoid Consuming Certain Tortilla Wraps Amidst Police Investigation for Possible Tampering

Aldi has issued a critical advisory to its customers regarding a specific type of tortilla wrap, while police are probing potential tampering of the product.

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) and the supermarket chain have jointly announced a recall of 'Village Bakery 8 Tortilla Wraps White' due to concerns over metal contamination.

Bedfordshire Police is actively investigating the matter, focusing on the wrap's supplier, Signature Flatbreads UK, which operates from Dunstable.

The recall pertains to eight-pack tortilla wraps with a best-before date up to and including April 29, 2024.

Signature Flatbreads UK is collaborating with both the FSA and the police to determine the cause of the contamination. The warning was officially issued on March 17.

Customers who have purchased this product are advised not to consume it and should return it to the store for a full refund. Aldi stores are displaying product recall notices for easier identification.

"The potential presence of metal deems this product unsafe for consumption," stated the FSA.

"This incident is isolated and not related to any other recent product recall information notices for metal contamination. No other products from Aldi or Signature Flatbreads UK are impacted."

ITV News has reached out to Bedfordshire Police for further details on the ongoing investigation.
